Commercial Invoice and Certification of Origin LegalizationIf you are planning to export goods into another country, you will be required to provide the necessary paperwork (Certificate of Origin and Commercial Invoice).

A commercial invoice is a customs document used in foreign trade. It is used as a customs declaration provided by the person or corporation that is exporting an item across international borders. A Certificate of Origin is an important international trade document attesting that goods in a particular export shipment are wholly obtained, produced, manufactured or processed in a particular country.

Note: If the country requesting your documents is a member of the Hague Apostille Convention, then all your documents require is the State apostille only.  Hague Apostille Member Countries

The most common countries to request these type of documents are: Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Libya, Yemen, Lebanon, Vietnam, and Iran.

The requirements for every country is unique.  Some countries will request your documents to be notarized by the local Chamber of Commerce while others only require a company representative to sign the documents in front of a notary public.  Some countries will request the documents to be authenticated by the National U.S. Arab Chamber of Commerce while another will ask for the documents to be authenticated through a designated law office in Washington, D.C.
